SWTOR-The Online Saga Begins...

SWTOR-Light Side
There was once upon a time ...
We feel a disturbance in the Force, at least in the genre of online role-playing. The reason is Star Wars: The Old Republic online game. Because published since World of Warcraft is almost seven years ago, could not rival the Blizzard MMO even begin to reach the water. The superiority of elves, orcs and tauren forced many publishers even established their title to free Free2Play convert concepts.

It begins:SW:The Old Republic as virtually every other online role-playing also with the character creation. We choose a faction (Republic or Empire), one of four classes (not relevant playfully) race and name, gender, and appearance determine our future heroes.

The classes are also available to the genre standard: two in the light-hitting melee swordsman (one damage dealer and tank) and two specialized distance to guys who shoot with either thick or more villainous caliber on the road. Cross-faction in the respective classes differ in short supply.

So grab some of the Jedi and his dark counterpart, the Sith warrior, returns to nearly the same skills and attack patterns. Does not matter, however, because on the one struck in PvP battles (player versus player) as a reasonable balance. On the other hand, the barrier to entry for newcomers is the fact of MMO vanishingly low. No confusing texts of any specialization, no overkill of possibilities.

At least not at the beginning, because at level 10, so if you get to know its character as something that can (or rather should) be any hero choose one of two subclasses, the ready three talent trees of 20 skills.

Thus, if only the smugglers can play in six different ways, such as insidious villain with a penchant for critical hits or baller Santander gunslinger with two blasters in hand and neat explosives in the pockets. That should satisfy even the experimental MMO-professionals, even if we can not conclusively determine whether all the skills are well balanced.

SWTOR - A New Story

SWTOR - Dark Side
And then it's also going on, with typical Star Wars John Williams' famous musical fanfares and a yellow colored text that glides through the universe and heralds the story.

Or actually eight stories, because The New Republic offers for each character class its own, in more acts divided storyline that runs through from level 1 to the so-called Endgame and is told in story instances, ie in areas that only we and our group allowed to enter. Sith on Korriban about land warrior to prove to their masters that they are particularly gifted in dealing with the dark side of power.

Chase smugglers turn on Ord Mantell afterwards until their ship, which gave them a gemopst separatist gangsters shortly after landing in order to then go on an adventure scavenger hunt for a legendary treasure.

In the prologue, which is completed at level 9, we are pushing us around, only to start the respective planet and make us a name first. With the achievement of the tenth stage, we are eventually released as reasonably well-known hero in the big wide world of Star Wars. While members of the First Republic to those found in the new film trilogy city planet Coruscant hire breath away, the imperial metropolis in the Sith Dromund Kaas.

Though unusual for an online role-playing game: The Old Republic's history told through countless in-game cutscenes, in which we listen to (as in German, in English very well) set to music dialogues. And more, because just like in Mass Effect we choose a comfortable circle menu and give different answers to the conversation as a special direction.

This constant and cons not only generates much tension makes it out of our heroes more than just an anonymous item-carrier. We get to know him and can identify with him. Until he grows fond of us, even formally. Playful affects the answer choice is not, however, even the most noble Jedi can be hanging out in the conversation Bastards (Did someone "Anakin said? ').
Have Fun with Star Wars The Old Republic Online Game.

SWTOR's any good, the endgame?

How good is the balance? What still needs to work on Bioware?

Everyone talks about the endgame, or high level content. So from what we expect in an online role-playing game, when all quests, explore each area and the story is actually completed.
Then marks the beginning of what makes up the biggest attraction for many players such programs: The hunt for rare special equipment, the masters of large-scale raid instances or perfecting their own PvP skills.
Thus, the endgame for many developers is a nightmare, just ambitious fans can not get enough of it. Especially if they have seen in their favorite game through intensive long-term use within a few weeks all experienced and fought against and seek new challenges.
Of course, Star Wars The Old Republic is viewed with suspicion in this respect from the players as well as any competitor earlier genre. Since we have been fighting for weeks through the Star War, and now several times reached the level cap of 50, we can now judge also concluded that, especially as the Bioware MMO will meet its pre-laurels.

SWTOR Story:

This starts with the action, including the Old Republic prides itself in telling each of the eight character classes, one on the player until the final cut and fascinating history - a novelty in the principle of the often monotonous play MMO genre.
In Star Wars The Old Republic are intended for the endgame player space battles fortunately much trickier than the simple to the early missions, but only on the edge. Bioware actually managed throughout this mammoth task very well. Need if we pursue a smuggler until our ship and then to a fabled treasure, as Jedi do good in the galaxy or to provide us with Sith Inquisitor in the search for powerful artifacts suddenly the question of whether we leads our Champion duped remain we thanks to the numerous cutscenes and dialogues always fully set to music on the ball
While there are also sometimes unnecessary dramatic Hangover ("You've found two relics, now travel to planet C and D, and bring me two more") with the clear aim of the playing time to stretch. Scores for each of the eight stories with their own impressive finale.
And the developers have not only set in movie-like and emotionally charged scene, but when it comes to quest mechanics tuned entirely to the respective class. This last task master to us only if we master the talents of our character blind. So a kind of final exam generator with built-in motivation - great!

SWTOR Another real MMO?

However, there are also voices of fans who miss in The Old Republic precisely because of the strong history and the associated single-player experience the feel of a real online role-playing game.
Many players report that even within a guild experienced almost every man for himself and his story a joint adventure, so little to do does not materialize.
The game Star Wars The Old Republic would be with smoothing a little prettier, but they supported (yet). Whether you're having fun in SWTOR, is therefore even more in other titles as well as on their own playing style and sophistication. For over one must adventurous Star Wars fans be clear: The Old Republic is directed in its current form is primarily designed for beginners and casual players.
So to people who want to be lured by the fascination with Star Wars, to the comparatively complex genre a try. Raid instances, chats with cryptic abbreviations for the uninitiated or epic set items that you get hold of as they did in World of Warcraft only in 40-man teams, and after four hours of Boss bashing, as a deterrent.
A gripping, the player and the universe story, however, is tailored Guaranteed. In SWTOR's even up to sixteen-man heroic groups, but compared to the hard-WoW instances this is now a children's garden party.
Our tip: If you are looking for, despite all the weight of the story a sense of community with other players, you should check with guilds in advance, what style of play is maintained. Or you can simply start their own. And for the hardcore faction is to be hoped that further high-level content in later with growing difficulty in patches or addons are.
